International Dairy Queen Creates a “Sweet” Experience through Strategic Onboarding

If you’ve ever had a Dairy Queen ice cream cone, you know it’s a sweet experience.  So that new hires could have an equally “sweet” experience, International Dairy Queen recently transformed to a strategic onboarding program.

The company went from a program focused on compliance to program that includes an introduction to culture, communication of the new hire’s role in the organization and meeting all compliance needs.  And, it’s 100 percent paperless.

The goal for the new experience focused around superior service, articulated in the company mission: “Create positive memories for all who touch DQ.” “We wanted to look at employees more strategically—how do we get them inspired about IDQ quality,” said Harding. “It was equally important to make life easier for our managers by simplifying administration.”
