President & Chief Executive Officer
John Shackleton serves as President and CEO of SilkRoad. John has been an innovative visionary in the software industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining SilkRoad, he served as the President and CEO of Open Text Corporation, heading a $1.0 billion (USD) software company that became the world’s leading independent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software. John’s extensive background in software and services management includes IT, consulting, product development, and sales management roles. He joined Open Text from PLATINUM technology, inc., where he was President of the PLATINUM Solutions division, providing consulting services to Global 2000 customers. Previously, he served as Vice President of Professional Services at Sybase®, Incorporated for the Central U.S. and South America. In addition, John served as Vice President of Worldwide Consulting at ViewStar® Corporation, a document management imaging company based in the Bay Area.
Merri Bonino Chandler
Chief Financial Officer
Merri Bonino Chandler oversees SilkRoad’s financial operations including treasury, finance, and accounting. Merri joined SilkRoad in 2011 as the Senior Vice President of Finance and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2013. Prior to joining SilkRoad, she spent fifteen years in finance and accounting leadership roles at both private and publicly held global technology and professional services companies including Huron Consulting Group, Diamond Management & Technology Consultants and Trading Technologies. Merri began her career in public accounting working for KPMG, LLP and is a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accountancy. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
EVP, Chief Revenue Officer
Paul O’Donnell is the Chief Revenue Officer at SilkRoad, where he is responsible for worldwide sales operations. He is recognized as an inspiring leader who transforms businesses and develops successful teams that drive profitable growth.
He has in excess of 30 years in the Information Technology sector. In his early years as a business co-founder, he successfully launched and sold a UK-based software and services company. Since then, he has held executive positions with notable brands such as Lotus Development, Fujitsu, and PEAK Technologies. More recently, Paul served as President of OpenText Americas where he was instrumental in driving exceptional results for the $1 billion multinational enterprise.
Paul has extensive international experience, having lived and conducted business throughout European, Eastern Mediterranean, and Americas regions. He was born and educated in Scotland where he received his Business Systems and Computer Science degree.
Wm. Edward Vesely
EVP, Chief Marketing Officer
Ed Vesely is responsible for worldwide marketing at SilkRoad. He is an entrepreneurial marketing and business development executive with a consistent record of growing revenue, market share and business valuation. As SVP of Marketing and Business Development at Vision Solutions his leadership contributed to record revenue (five fold increase), customer growth and earnings. While SVP of Marketing at Click Commerce, he rebranded the company and helped grow revenues from $3 to $40 million leading to an IPO. As VP of Marketing at CA/Platinum Technology, he co-founded three new product divisions, helping drive revenue from $10 to $200 million. While Director of Product Marketing and International Business Development at Accenture, he launched vertical marketing programs, which helped increased revenue by 300 percent to $90 million. He began his career with IBM, where he developed system and application software. Ed holds bachelor degrees in Journalism/Public Relations and Computer Science from Northern Illinois University, and an MBA in Marketing from DePaul University.
Tracy McCarthy, SPHR, GPHR
Chief Human Resource Officer
Tracy McCarthy is responsible for the overall strategic direction of human resource initiatives for SilkRoad technology. Tracy is passionate about enabling companies to succeed through building outstanding organizational cultures, ensuring high employee engagement, developing and connecting people, and giving back through corporate social responsibility.
As an experienced Human Resources leader, Tracy brings over 25 years of HR and business leadership experience in a variety of industries, including fortune 500 companies and privately held businesses. Prior to joining SilkRoad technology, Tracy held Human Resources leadership positions at Collections Etc. (now Winston Brands), a direct marketing retailer, Lakeview Technology (now Vision Solutions), a software development company, Corporate Express, a world-wide leader in business to business computer equipment and office supplies, and Dayton-Hudson Corporation (now Target Corporation).
Tracy holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in Human Resource Development and Psychology and a Master’s degree from Benedictine University in Management and Organizational Behavior. Tracy obtained her Global Professional Human Resources (GPHR) certification in 2012, her Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification in 2000, is active in both national and local SHRM groups and is a SHRM national mentor.
EVP, General Counsel
Steve Worth oversees the company's legal affairs and helps manage related areas such as compliance, risk management and corporate transactions. Prior to joining SilkRoad, Steve was the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Diamond Management & Technology Consultants, Inc., a global publicly traded company, until its sale to PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Steve practiced law with the international law firm Winston & Strawn prior to Diamond and began his career as a consultant with Andersen. He holds a B.S. from Cornell University as well as a J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
Chief Product Officer
Rich Buchheim is responsible for all product activities at SilkRoad, bringing together both product management, product development, and operations. He is a recognized industry leader with over four decades of experience in enterprise information management, collaboration, and business applications. Rich has a broad strategic view, deep technical knowledge, and a proven track-record of bringing together people, partners and technologies to build successful products and businesses
Rich is a serial entrepreneur who led three successful start-ups—each acquired by Fortune 1000 companies. He has also held key executive and leadership positions at OpenText, Oracle, Intergraph, and General Electric. While at OpenText, Rich worked with John Shackleton, building and managing OpenText’s strategic partner relationship with Oracle and identifying and exploiting technology and business areas for increased cooperation between the companies. At Oracle, Rich developed and implemented the strategy that led the company to become a recognized leader in enterprise content management (ECM) and was widely known there as "The Godfather of Content Management." Rich has also provided technical and M&A consultation for a number of industry-leading technology companies and investors.
SVP, Global Service & Support
Roland Berthelot oversees all customer engagements including professional services, adoption and technical support. With more than a decade in cloud computing, consulting and sales, Roland specializes in helping customers transform their business operations through cloud technologies to maximize the end-to-end talent management experience.
Prior to SilkRoad, Roland was Senior Director at Bluewolf Inc., a SaaS consultancy firm focused in agile business transformation leveraging world class cloud solutions. During his time with Bluewolf, he led the growth of its SaaS delivery practice, including Salesforce.com, Big Machines and Eloqua. Roland also held various leadership roles in sales operations at CCC Information Services, TravelCLICK and Kohler Co.
Roland received his B.A. from Michigan State University and his M.B.A. from Grand Valley State University.
Tony K. Preston
Chief Customer Strategist
In this role, Tony is responsible for customer satisfaction and overall SilkRoad experience. Leading the Customer Success Management Team, he and his team work to deliver strategies that enhance the customer’s application of SilkRoad’s cloud-based HR solutions. Using his 30+ years of senior HR executive leadership experience, he knows first-hand how to harness technology to advance Human Resource solutions within the customer ecosystem. Providing the Voice of the Customer into SilkRoad products and services organizations, he helps to ensure SilkRoad offers long-term best-in-class technology with customer insight.
Tony has an extensive international HR experience having lived and worked in London, England with responsibilities for Europe, Middle-East and Africa, and Hong Kong, responsible for Asia-Pacific. He has held executive HR positions in fast-paced technology companies including Nortel Networks, Andrew Satellite Sub-Systems, and Open Text Corporation.
Tony received his B.S. Degree from Greenville College and attended the Ivey Business School in Hong Kong, SAR. A dedicated motivational leader of change, he combines a strategic vision with the ability to construct and implement complex yet feasible operational solutions.
